CHICAGO — The Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park has been closed until further notice, due to vandalism to the fountain that happened Friday overnight.
According to a post on X from the Chicago Park District, the fountain’s closure was effective immediately, as of around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, and will be closed until further notice as the fountain undergoes maintenance due to the vandalism.
The Chicago Police Department later confirmed damage to the fountain was discovered overnight.
Police have no one in custody, and no injuries were reported from the incident.
Future updates on the condition of the Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park will be posted to X, according to the Chicago Park District.
