Illinois man facing felony charge, accused of child porn possession
TINLEY PARK, Ill. — A Tinley Park man accused of possessing child porn is now facing a felony charge.
According to Tinley Park police, 19-year-old Noah McGonigal has been charged with one felony count of possession of child pornography.
The charge was handed down following an investigation by Tinley Park police and a search of his former home.
An investigation into McGonigal first began after Tinley Park investigators assigned to the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on June 23, 2023.
Authorities say the information prompted an investigation which eventually resulted in a search of McGonigal’s former home, in the 17300 block of Oleander Avenue, on April 19, 2023.
During the search, authorities got ahold of McGonigal’s cellphone, and following a forensic examination, files depicting pornography of children younger than 13 years old were allegedly discovered.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office later approved a Class 2 felony charge of possession of child pornography against McGonigal and authorities say additional charges are pending.
“The Tinley Park Police Department, in conjunction with the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, continue to work diligently to keep our children safe,” Interim Tinley Park Police Chief Tom Tilton said.
McGonigal, who is currently, being held at the Tinley Park Police Department, appeared in court on Friday for a custody hearing.
