(NewsNation) — Two soldiers were injured Tuesday in a helicopter crash at Fort Riley in Kansas, officials confirmed, marking the latest incident in a string of Army crashes.

The soldiers were operating an AH-64 Apache helicopter when they experienced a “mishap” during a gunnery training exercise, Lt. Col. Jefferson Grimes, a spokesperson for the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, told Task & Purpose.

Grimes said the soldiers are in stable condition, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

The crash follows two others in March that collectively killed at least five people. It also comes after a pair of Apache helicopter crashes in February prompted the Army National Guard to ground all helicopter units for a review of safety “policies and procedures.”

Last year, Army saw 10 incidents, including 14 fatalities, outpacing deaths occurring in combat operations abroad, Military.com reported.
