(NewsNation) — Congressman Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, criticized President Joe Biden’s response to a drone attack that targeted U.S. forces in Jordan, killing three American soldiers and injuring more than 40 others.

“What we need is an actual response. We need a disproportionate response,” Crenshaw said during a Tuesday appearance on NewsNation’s “The Hill.” “The enemy should believe that you’re gonna hit them 10 times harder. That’s how you get them to actually stop.

Biden did not give specific details on his plans for a response. However, while speaking to reporters as he left the White House for a campaign trip to Florida, he reiterated that he holds Iran responsible for the service members’ deaths.

The deaths were the first U.S. fatalities after months of strikes by such groups against American troops in the Middle East.

The three Army Reserve soldiers killed were Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Georgia; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Georgia.

While it remains uncertain how the drone was able to breach the U.S. outpost, Deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh said the incident is being investigated and hopes the findings help prevent any future attacks.

Crenshaw said Biden’s blame of Iran “doesn’t really matter.”

“Iran has long been very good at surrogate warfare. We call it unconventional warfare in our military. And that means training and equipping surrogates to do your bidding. We can look at this attack and we can say Iran is directly responsible, doesn’t really matter,” Crenshaw added.
