(NewsNation) — Teen brothers were fishing off the coast of New Hampshire this week when they saw a whale capsize another boat and knock two people overboard.
The brothers, Colin and Wyatt Yager, caught the whole thing on video and rushed over to help the two fishermen who had fallen out of the boat.
Both joined NewsNation’s “Morning in America” to discuss the boat capsizing, where Wyatt Yager said he was in shock when he saw it but knew he had to help.
“It was kind of just instinct, we kind of just dropped everything and rushed over to help them and all the other boats around us did the same thing,” Wyatt Yager said.
The incident occurred Tuesday near Odiorne Point State Park, with the Coast Guard reportedly receiving a mayday call about a 23-foot center console boat turning over because of a whale breach.
Colin Yager said he wasn’t scared that the whale would breach again and hurt them while they were trying to help.
“It didn’t even really cross my mind, “ Colin Yager said. “It probably should’ve but it didn’t, and it’s a little scary to think about now but we were just like we gotta help these people.”
The Coast Guard said in a post on X that no injuries were reported and the whale also appeared not to be injured.
