2 arrested, 1 wanted in death of 10-year-old Gracie Griffin
CLEVELAND (WJW) – Two suspects have been arrested and Cleveland detectives are still searching for another in the shooting death of a 10-year-old girl.
According to the Division of Police, 28-year-old Juwone Deaver was arrested on a warrant for the murder of Gracie Griffin. Katie McKnight, 23, was arrested for obstruction of justice.
Investigators are still searching for Jemerious Davis, 23, also wanted for murder. He’s 5’11 and 163 pounds with tattoos on the front of his neck, according to Cleveland police.
The NewsNation affiliate WJW learned Tuesday evening that Cleveland police had filed arrest warrants for three suspects. The warrants filed in the Cleveland Clerk of Courts Office indicated two people wanted on murder charges and one wanted for obstruction of justice.
On the evening of July 4, gunfire took the child’s life. The shooting happened in the 3200 block of West 125th Street.
The murder warrants said the suspects fired shots at a passing vehicle, and those gunshots caused the death of the child.
The obstruction warrant said, “statements received… were provided to homicide detectives,” including, “several false statements which prevented and hindered the investigation.”
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Davis’s arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-866-4-WANTED.
