NEW YORK  (NewsNation Now) — Underserved kids in the Bronx are getting a new school thanks to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Capital Prep Bronx school will open September 8th with a class of 200 sixth and seventh graders. The school hopes to accommodate 650 sixth through eleventh grade students. It will begin fully remotely due to coronavirus.

“My dream has always been to provide children in communities like the Bronx the high quality education they deserve,” Diddy said in a press release. “We’re not just teaching reading, math and coding. We are grooming future leaders that will change their communities and the world.”

The entertainer and entrepreneur has opened two other prep schools in Harlem and Bridgeport, Connecticut as a part of he and his partner, Dr. Steve Perry, Capital Preparatory schools’ network.

Diddy announced the Bronx school back in 2018 and pledged a million dollars towards its completion.

The charter network began in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 2015 and then expanded to Harlem with Diddy’s help in 2016.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open our next school together in Co-Op City, a community rooted in social justice and diversity.” Dr. Perry added in the statement. “While opening up remote at first is bittersweet, we have developed a best in class approach to online learning we are excited to implement with our new families. The Capital Prep college prep model is perfectly poised to transition into the digital space and we are excited to deliver a rigorous education to this inaugural class of scholars.”
