CLEVELAND (WJW) – NewsNation affiliate WJW has learned a fourth person facing charges in the murder of a 10-year-old girl is now in custody in Ohio.
On Wednesday, Jemerious Davis walked into the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department and surrendered. Court documents show Davis is facing several charges including murder in connection with the July 4 shooting death of Gracie Griffin.
Juwone Deaver is also facing a murder charge in the case. Katie McKnight and Ed’Jawon Williams are both facing obstructing justice charges.
“This is certainly one of the more unusual fact patterns we have ever seen. Tragically a 10-year- old Cleveland girl lost her life,” Prosecutor Michael O’Malley told the WJW.
He says the young girl was with family members and friends at a house party on the city’s west side when she was shot and killed.
O’Malley said people at the party fired several shots at a vehicle that drove past the home. The people in the vehicle were invited to the party but those firing the gunshots did not recognize the car.
“As they were shooting, they struck poor 10-year-old Gracie in the head and she lost her life,” the prosecutor said. “It is just another tragic situation that occurred in our community over nothing.”
No one else was injured.
All four are due back in court soon.
