GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A Muskegon man accused of hitting a woman’s car and then attacking her in a parking lot has two previous convictions for similar assaults dating back to the 1980s.
Last week, Greg Joseph DuJardine, 60, was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and being a habitual offender.
Deputies say that on Sept. 8, he followed a woman as she drove south on US-31 from the Duncan Woods park in Grand Haven and then caused a crash. The woman told investigators that when she stopped in a gas station parking lot in Port Sheldon Township, believing he wanted to file a police report, DuJardine attacked and sexually assaulted her. She was injured but was able to fight him off and call 911.
In 1986, DuJardine was found guilty of second-degree CSC. According to court documents obtained by News 8, an employee at a Grand Haven self-service gas station was searching for her car keys after work on April 24 of that year when DuJardine grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth. Prosecutors said he then threw her to the ground and touched her inappropriately. He was sentenced to between two and 15 years.
In 1989, DuJardine was found guilty of first-degree CSC after raping an Ottawa County park attendant. Court documents show that in July 1988, DuJardine hit a park attendant in the head and then assaulted her in a storage room at North Shore Beach Park in Ferrysburg.
He was sentenced to life behind bars, but according to the Michigan Department of Corrections website, he was paroled in January of this year. News 8 has reached out to the MDOC to learn more about the circumstances surrounding DuJardine being paroled.
He is expected back in court next month on the most recent case. He’s being held on a $500,000 bond.
