MMA fight in New York backyard draws hundreds and ends in shooting
SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (NewsNation/WETM) — A MMA fight in a New York backyard that drew more than 100 people ended with a shooting, deputies said.
Chemung County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Southport after reports of gunshots. Deputies said they found a MMA fight in the backyard with an estimated 100 to 200 people there.
Deputies said a man walked into the house and shot at a parked car. He then fired two more times at the house.
“We did recover three, 22-caliber shell casings at the scene,” said Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom. “Of course when that happened, a majority of the attendees had fled the area prior to law enforcement’s arrival.”
No one was hurt. Anyone with information about the shooter can call the Criminal Investigation Division at 607-737-2933.
