(NewsNation Now) — Court records filed Wednesday in connection with the disappearance of a New Hampshire girl detail family’s concern for the 7-year-old’s wellbeing before she was reported missing.

Adam Montgomery of Manchester, New Hampshire, was arrested Tuesday in connection with 7-year-old Harmony Montgomery’s disappearance, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said.

Harmony was 5 years old when she was last seen in October of 2019 when police and Family Services were called to her home.

Investigators only learned on Dec. 31 that she was missing. The search for Harmony continues.

The girl’s father faces one charge of felony second-degree assault, one charge of interference with custody and two charges of endangering the welfare of a child. He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in Hillsborough County Superior Court North, but that appearance was canceled.

Court records and comments from Harmony’s family revealed that people in the young girl’s life had previously expressed concerns about her safety.

According to one affidavit, Harmony’s mother lost custody of her daughter in 2018, prompting the girl to move in with her father.

The mother would go on to call the police in November and report that she was worried about her daughter, whom she hadn’t seen in six months, according to court documents.

She last saw Harmony during a Facetime call around Easter of 2019.

Kevin Montgomery, Harmony’s great-uncle, told NewsNation that he warned the New Hampshire Department of Children and Family Services that the girl was in danger. He said he’s been worried about her safety and well-being for years and claimed police didn’t take her situation seriously.

According to Kevin Montgomery, he gave Family Services “plenty of evidence and they ignored it.”

The Daily Beast also reported that Kevin Montgomery called authorities to the girl’s home twice, in July of 2019 when Harmony had a black eye, and again Oct. 19, 2019 — the last day anyone saw the 5-year-old.

Police on New Year’s Eve found Adam Montgomery and his new girlfriend sleeping in a car in Manchester. He told officers at the time that he was not in touch with a child from his prior marriage, according to court records.

On Sunday, police searched a Manchester home that belonged to the girl’s family in 2019. It has since sold but the new owner is cooperating fully, according to police.

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joined NewsNation Prime to discuss the latest news on the case. She said the police should be focusing on all efforts to try to get this solved.

“The police need to conduct a whole series of interviews of family, friends, neighbors, school officials. “If there were any doctors ever involved in her treatment, and they can put together these puzzle pieces to show a specific timeline…to show corroborated information regarding how she was treated.”

Officials are asking for the public’s assistance locating Harmony. Two local business owners and two Massachusetts businessmen have donated more than $20,000 toward reward money for finding Harmony, according to the Manchester Police Department.
