(WHTM) – Two million handheld garment steamers are being recalled due to a burn hazard.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Steamfast, Vornado and Sharper Image-branded handheld garment steamers can “expel hot water” from the steam nozzle.
So far there have been 122 reports of hot water spraying or spitting from the steam nozzle with 23 burn injury reports.
The following model numbers, which can be found on the bottom label, are affected by the recall.
- Steamfast model numbers SF-425, SF-435, SF-440, SF-445, and SF-447
- Vornado model number: VS-410
- Sharper Image model number SI-428
The recalled steamers were sold in multiple colors including white, black, pink, green, orange, and blue.
The steamers were sold online and nationwide at stores such as Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Amazon from July 2009 through January 2024.
Users should immediately stop using the garment steamer and contact Vornado for a full refund or a free replacement, depending on the model.
