(WHTM) – More than half a million beds have been recalled due to fall and injury hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday.
The recall affects about 527,177 Home Design Upholstered Low Profile Standard and Platform Beds. The beds, priced between $100 and $300, were sold at Wayfair, Walmart.com and Overstock.com from July 2018 through November 2023.
According to the commission, the recalled beds can “break, sag or collapse during use.” Home Design has received 128 reports of such incidents, including 36 injuries.
The recalled products, as described in the CPSC alert, include:
- Home Design Part No. 80002 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Beds
- Gray, warm gray or blue bed frame with standard supports requiring a box spring. Available in twin, full, queen and king sizes.
- Home Design Part No. 80032 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Beds
- Gray or beige bed frame with standard supports requiring a box spring. Available in twin, full, queen and king sizes.
- Home Design Part No. 80055 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Beds,
- Silver gray, gray or black bed frame with standard supports requiring a box spring. Available in king sizes.
- Home Design Part No. 80071 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Beds
- Gray, beige or black bed frame with platform supports not requiring a box spring. Available in twin, full, queen or king sizes.
- Home Design Part No. 80053 Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Platform Beds
- Warm gray bed frame with platform supports not requiring a box spring, with no center support leg along the side rail.
The part number of the recalled beds can be found in the installation manual and on the packaging. The recalled bed frames also have a law label located on the back of the headboard.

The commission is instructing consumers to immediately stop using the affected beds and contact Home Design for free replacement slats and side rails.
To receive the replacement materials, consumers will need to send a photo of the bed and the law label, or proof of purchase, to recall@homedesign-us.com.
