TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A brand new attraction is just days away from opening up to visitors at Busch Gardens.
Phoenix Rising is a family-friendly rollercoaster that goes up to speeds of 44 mph and replaces a previous ride.
“Paying homage to that old attraction, Phoenix, that was a swinging boat ride that was out here before,” United Parks and Resorts Corporate Director of Project Management Andrew Schaffer said.
The ride took about 18 months to complete and was designed to feel like you are riding on the wings of a phoenix.
“If you ride in the right seat, you have an amazing view of our Serengeti plain which is right where all the animals are out here,” Schaffer said.
Riders must be at least 42 inches tall to ride the attraction.
Phoenix Rising officially opens up to park visitors on Sunday, July 21.
