DELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida pilot had a close call early Friday morning after his aircraft fell from the sky, according to deputies.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said at about 1:49 a.m., a Cessna 172 lost power and crashed in the Lake George State Forest, northwest of Deland.

According to the sheriff’s office, the pilot survived the crash and managed to walk away from the scene with minor injuries.

The pilot told deputies he was the only one on board.

The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
