(NewsNation) — As Hurricane Debby made landfall as a Category 1 storm Monday, more than high winds and pounding rain made landfall in the Florida Keys.

Around 70 pounds of cocaine — worth more than $1 million — also washed ashore, according to U.S. Border Patrol Miami Acting Chief Patrol Agent Samuel Briggs II.

Briggs credited the discovery to a “Good Samaritan,” adding that the U.S. Border Patrol has since seized the drugs. The exact location of the discovery has not yet been confirmed.

Hurricane Debby has been downgraded to a tropical storm after buffeting Florida early Monday morning.

The system knocked out power and grounded flights across the state, with Florida set to remain under flood watch for the entirety of the week, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis.
