BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – You’re invited to attend the opening of the first play of Bossier Parish Community College’s new theatre season!

BPCC Performing Arts Theatre Program will open its 2024-2025 season on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Their opening musical, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, is directed by Ray Scott Crawford and choreographed by Laura Nugent.

The musical, based on Rick Riordan’s novel, made its debut on Broadway in 2019. It’s about the half-blooded son of a Greek god who has powers he can’t control. He tries to return a lightning bolt stolen from Zeus to prevent a war. Along the way, Percy discovers his destiny.

Ja’Siah Jackson will play Percy Jackson.

Scott said that BPCC students are having a blast working on the project.

“I bet our audiences will as well. This is a great way to start a season!”

The musical is said to be an exhilarating theatrical experience with an electrifying rock score.

Shows will take place on Oct. 24, 25, 26, 31, and Nov. 1 and 2. And if you work the late shift, don’t worry. You can sneak into a matinee on Oct. 27 or Nov. 3 at 2:00 p.m.

Performances will be held in the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre, Building C, on the BPCC Campus. Tickets are $20 and may be reserved in advance. The production is not recommended for small children.

Visit BPCC Theatre’s website to learn more about its season lineup. For more information, call (318) 678-6021.
