Plane carrying Carolina Panthers players runs off taxiway
CHARLOTTE (WJZY) – A Delta plane carrying players for the Carolina Panthers ran off the tarmac shortly after touching down at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in North Carolina, according to sources for NewsNation affiliate WJZY.
The team was heading home from their game against the New England Patriots on Thursday. The flight, which departed from Rhode Island, landed without incident at CLT early on Friday morning, but ran off the tarmac while taxiing.
Delta, in a statement, said it was the aircraft’s right main gear that went off the taxiway.
“No injuries were reported by the 188 customers who are deplaning and being bused to the terminal. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” Delta said.
Delta confirmed the aircraft deplaned before being moved back to the taxi surface.
The Panthers lost Thursday’s preseason opener against the Patriots, struggling during a rainy game with a final score of 3-17.
