(NewsNation) — After Hurricane Milton dissipated, the National Hurricane Center was still monitoring another system in the Atlantic, which never made landfall or came close to the United States.

As of 11 a.m. Saturday, Tropical Storm Leslie weakened into a trough, which is a relatively low-pressure area in the atmosphere, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm had been moving toward the north-northeast with maximum sustained winds of 50 pmh. It weakened quicker than the original prediction of Saturday night or Sunday morning.

There have also been false rumors on social media of a “Hurricane Nadine” headed toward Central Florida. Although Nadine is the next name on the list of tropical storms for 2024, nothing has developed as of Saturday.

“I don’t see anything that’s coming our way anytime soon,” said Justin Mosley, a meteorologist at NewsNation affiliate Suncoast News Network.

So far, there have been 13 named storms in the 2024 hurricane season, which lasts until the end of November.

Hurricane Helene hit the Big Bend region of Florida as a Category 4 storm on Sept. 26, killing more than 200 people and leaving a wake of destruction in its path.

At least 10 people are dead after Hurricane Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm Wednesday night. Around 1.8 million Florida homes and businesses remained without power Saturday.
