ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (News Nation/WKRG) — A 15-year-old was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon for treatment of a possible shark bite after he was bitten while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico with his dad.

According to Orange Beach police, the call came into dispatch around 1:19 p.m. CDT of a possible shark bite. The teen was suffering from several small puncture wounds and a mild abrasion. His father said he saw a large amount of small fish swimming around them, and as they started to get out of the water, his son felt pain.

Neither the victim or his father ever saw a shark or a large fish when it happened. The teen was taken to the hospital by his family.
