GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD) — An semitrailer carrying a military vehicle was struck by a train Thursday afternoon at a railroad crossing in South Carolina.

Officials with the Goose Creek Police Department said they received a call about the crash on North Goose Creek Boulevard and Liberty Hall Road around 12:30 p.m.

Police said the truck with what was referred to as a “low boy” trailer was carrying a military vehicle when it got stuck while attempting to drive over the train crossing. An oncoming train then smashed into the vehicle and damaged the crossing.

It appears to be an M109 Paladin Howitzer, according to someone familiar with the type of vehicle.

There were no reports of injuries. The driver refused treatment.

The roadway was closed while crews cleared the accident. Video of the incident was shared with NewsNation affiliate WCBD by Bob Corson.
