ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was the middle of the afternoon on November 19 when video shows several New Mexico State Police officers board the Rail Runner in downtown Albuquerque with guns drawn.
They were looking for Dominic Lopez who police say ran onto the train without paying for a ticket, locked himself inside, and started threatening employees. Reports at the time said he may have been armed with an axe.
While police never found an axe, Rail Runner employees said he was brandishing a fire extinguisher at one point. The complaint said one employee hid in a closet. Police cleared the train of all passengers. Lapel video shows officers making their way through the train cars and detaining Lopez.
Lopez was let out on court supervision in this specific case by Judge Nina Safier. But when pretrial services tried to get ahold of him, he was nowhere to be found. There is a warrant out for his arrest. According to court documents, Lopez has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2008.
