(NewsNation) — An 85-year-old thrill-seeking grandma has made it her goal to free-fall out of planes as many times as possible.
Kim Knor, nicknamed the “Skydiving Diva,” made history as a member of the first U.S. Women’s Parachute Team six decades ago. She has jumped over 600 times in her lifetime and is traveling to different states to achieve her goal of 1,000 jumps by 2026.
Knor told NewsNation that she’s not stopping anytime soon, and made her 698th jump on Thursday.
Skydiving has been her passion since she was just six years old. Knor said that when she was little, she constantly thought about parachutes and how she’d love to live in the sky.
“You’re in the sky and free as a bird without an airplane or motor. It’s very, very peaceful,” Knor said.
Knor explained that when she retired, she didn’t want to sit around on a couch or a computer. Instead, she wanted to be outside, doing things and seeing people.
“Skydiving is like a community of high energy and positive energy people. And I thought for retired people, that really is a necessary thing to have around,” she said.
