(NewsNation) — The Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies are heading to the 2022 World Series.

The Astros swept the New York Yankees in a close, nailbiting Game 4 on Sunday night, claiming their spot in the World Series. The team was awarded the American League (AL) pennant.

The Astros beat the Yankees 6-5 to finish off the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

New York was 99-63 overall and 57-24 in home games. The Yankees hit 254 total home runs to lead the AL.

Houston had a 106-56 record overall and a 51-30 record on the road. The Astros have the seventh-best team on-base percentage in the majors at .319.

Only one of 39 teams has recovered from a 3-0 postseason series deficit to win, the Boston Red Sox against the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS. Thirty teams completed sweeps.

In the National League (AL), the Philadelphia Phillies took the NLCS series 4-1 against the San Diego Padres on Sunday.

Bryce Harper slugged a two-run blast in the eighth inning that turned Citizens Bank Park into a madhouse, and the $330 million slugger powered the Phillies past the San Diego Padres 4-3 on Sunday and into the World Series for the first time since 2009.

Philadelphia was 87-75 overall and 47-34 in home games. The Phillies had a 54-21 record in games when they did not allow a home run.

San Diego was 89-73 overall and 45-36 in road games. The Padres were 70-19 in games when they out-hit their opponents.

The Astros will take on the Phillies at home for the first game of the best-out-of-seven-games series on Friday, Oct. 28. The team to win four games first will become the 2022 World Series Champions and will also be awarded the Commissioner’s Trophy.
