(NewsNation) — The Daytona 500 is just three days away, and every NASCAR driver dreams of having the chance to shine on racing’s biggest stage.

This year, one driver is proving that people should never give up on their dreams — even as a former TV star.

Actor Frankie Muniz, who starred in the early 2000s hit sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle,” will be taking to the Daytona International Speedway, driving in the United Rentals 300 at NASCAR’s Xfinity Series on Saturday.

“I’m just going to go fast,” Muniz told NewsNation.

The actor-turned-race car driver will make his Xfinity Series debut at Daytona this weekend.

“This isn’t a hobby. It’s not a fluke. I’m not coming here for publicity, trust me. I’m here to race and to win. And be the best I can be,” Muniz said.

Muniz might be known for making people laugh, but on the track, he’s no joke. He finished fourth in the NASCAR junior circuit last season.

“I want to be here. I want this more than anything,” Muniz said. “I’m going out there risking my life because I love it.”

Muniz’s presence on the racetrack has brought additional fans to NASCAR, who will be cheering him on this Saturday.
