No charges for NBA’s Josh Giddey for alleged minor relationship
- Josh Giddey faced allegations of a relationship with a minor
- Newport Beach police found no corroborating evidence
- Giddey has continued to play during the investigation
(NewsNation) — Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey won’t face any charges regarding allegations of an improper relationship with an underage girl, TMZ reported.
Newport Beach police have officially closed the investigation initiated in November after finding no corroborating evidence. This led to no charges being filed against the 21-year-old basketball player.
The allegations surfaced during Thanksgiving weekend when social media posts included photos and videos of Giddey interacting with a girl believed to be a high school junior at the time.
The NBA initially looked into the claims, but once police became involved, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated that the league would take a “backseat” and allow law enforcement to proceed with the investigation.
Sources revealed that the lack of cooperation from the minor and her family posed a significant obstacle to the investigation, TMZ reported.
Despite the serious nature of the allegations, the minor and her family chose not to provide information, even seeking legal representation from renowned attorney Gloria Allred, who represents several of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims.
Throughout the probe, Giddey, who has not publicly addressed the allegations, continued to play for the Thunder.
