LAS VEGAS (NewsNation) — Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones was reportedly arrested Thursday morning in Las Vegas, a day after uploading an unsettling video to social media, according to multiple reports.

The Daily Mail reports the 33-year-old was arrested for violating a domestic violence temporary protective order.

He was expected to be released later in the day, NFL Media reported.

According to jail records, his bond was set at $15,000 for each charge. He is due in court Dec. 4.

On Thursday, Jones posted a video to social media wherein, among other concerning moments, he accused Raiders coach Josh McDaniels of killing former Patriots player and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez.

The Raiders posted the following statement Friday on X (formerly Twitter):

The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs. He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment.

In the 25-minute Instagram video Jones also posted to X, as well as Instagram, Jones claims Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels “had my twin Aaron Hernandez killed at (an) industrial park, not in jail.”

Jones and Hernandez were on the New England Patriots, while McDaniels served as offensive coordinator.

Hernandez was found guilty in the murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional player who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancée. During that trial, Hernandez was accused of being involved in a 2012 double homicide. He was acquitted of those charges after a 2017 trial.

Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell days after being acquitted of the double homicide. His death was ruled a suicide.

Jones’ unfounded accusation against McDaniels is the defensive end’s latest troubling incident on social media.

According to The New York Post, he claimed he was forced into a mental health facility and “injected with an unknown substance by the Las Vegas Fire Department.”

ESPN reported Jones was placed on the non-football illness list last week. He has not been with the team since Labor Day for what the Raiders have described as a “personal matter.”

Jones signed a three-year, $51 million deal with Las Vegas as a free agent in March 2022. He restructured his contract in April to lower his base salary to $1.165 million this season by converting some of the money due to a bonus.

Jones recorded 38 tackles, 4.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries in 15 games (all starts) last season, his first with the Raiders. His signature moment with Las Vegas came in Week 15 when he grabbed a New England Patriots lateral in the closing seconds and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown to give the Raiders an unlikely 30-24 victory.

A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Jones has 511 tackles, 112 sacks and 13 fumble recoveries — including two returned for touchdowns — in 154 career games (151 starts) with the Patriots (2012-15), Arizona Cardinals (2016-21) and Raiders.

Jones was a first-round draft pick (21st overall) by the Patriots in 2012 out of Syracuse.
