BEAUMONT, Calif. (AP) — Southern California firefighters found the bruised body of a dead little girl and a man and woman suffering from apparent overdoses in an apartment this week, police said. The woman later died.
A report of someone having a seizure sent firefighters to the apartment in Beaumont on Wednesday, a police statement said.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The woman was unresponsive and was given CPR but was declared dead shortly after arrival at an emergency room.
Firefighters called in police who summoned detectives.
“Upon initial investigation it appeared to detectives that the 4-year-old female child had numerous bruises throughout her body, appeared severely malnourished, and based on rate of decomposition had been deceased for approximately 1-2 days,” the police statement said.
No identities were released.
Beaumont is about 70 miles east of Los Angeles.
