LAKEWOOD, Colo (NewsNation Now) — First responders near Denver saved a horse that began sinking in a muddy area near a lake.

Firefighters, park rangers and animal control officers responded to the scene Saturday in Lakewood, Colorado.

The crews using rope and plywood boards worked for about two hours before they pulled the horse up, NewsNation affiliate KDVR reported.

A veterinarian treated the animal on the spot and it’s expected to make a full recovery, police said.
