DENVER (KDVR) — A group of teens hoping to make good memories at a concert at Empower Field at Mile High instead left with severe injuries.

They say it happened when they attended the Kenny Chesney concert last month, and a drunk woman came tumbling down on top of them.

Caelyn Kaiser, Alyssa Perez and their group of friends were thrilled to see one of their favorite artists of all time perform live at Empower Field in Denver.

“We bought all the tickets, parking, and we were all getting ready together so we were all looking forward to it,” Kaiser said.

But the concert did not go as they anticipated. It took a dangerous turn.

“Between intermission from Zac Brown Band to Kenny Chesney, this woman threw up behind us,” Kaiser said. “She fell and lost her balance and ended up rolling down multiple rows of people.”

The fall injured Kaiser, Perez and another one of their friends.

“All that I knew was that I was folded in half and hit my head on the seat in front of me,” Kaiser said.

Teens face pricy medical bills after concert

After feeling instant headaches, the group left the concert before even getting to see Kenny Chesney on stage.

“It’s upsetting that she couldn’t control herself enough and injured innocent people who spent their money,” Kaiser said. “We weren’t expecting this to happen. We know that the amount of beers this man sold her is against their policy. At once, she was sold four beers at a time, and that was her second time being served.”

Three of the six people ended up with concussions.

“I had a bruised back and neck bones. My hip bone was also bruised,” Kaiser said.

It left her with a $750 medical bill.

Empower Field contacted about injuries

It’s been about a month since the incident. Perez’s and Kaiser’s parents say they have not heard back from Empower Field, despite leaving multiple emails.

FOX31 reached out and in a statement, a spokesperson declined comment, stating that “the matter is being handled independently of the venue through its insurance company.”

Perez said: “Her boyfriend was with her and right after that happened, he just got up and left. Like none of them told us sorry or anything, they just both left.”

She said staff at the venue did not check on them either.

It’s a night that they say they will always remember, but not for the reasons they had hoped for.

“It’s just a great time with all your friends and the last thing you would expect is to go to the concert and see the openers,” Kaiser said. “You think you’re going to see the main performer too, then you have to go to the hospital because of some woman.”

Police said they are aware of the situation, but falling is considered a medical event, not criminal.

Both teens’ parents are asking for the stadium to acknowledge the situation and help them with the mounting hospital bills.
