(KRON) — A kite surfer was rescued from a Santa Cruz County beach over the weekend after using rocks to spell out the word “HELP.” The surfer was stranded on a beach south of Davenport Landing, according to Cal Fire.
The stranded surfer was spotted by a private helicopter that alerted officials. Santa Cruz County Fire Department personnel completed the rescue operation with the assistance of Cal Fire helicopter 612 and California State Parks. The Santa Cruz Fire Department also took part in the rescue.
The surfer did not require medical attention, fire officials said, only extraction from the beach.
