Stolen puppy returned to Oregon Humane Society
Fireball was taken from the Northeast Columbia Boulevard facility
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon Humane Society announced a puppy that was previously stolen has been returned.
The puppy was initially stolen from their Northeast Portland shelter on Monday night.
The 9-week-old, 10 pound female lab-pitbull mix with a brown coat is called Fireball. She was taken at 7 p.m. from the Northeast Columbia Boulevard facility, an event caught on surveillance footage.
In the video, released by the Oregon Humane Society, a male suspect is seen taking the puppy from a cage and putting her under his shirt. He makes his way outside and enters a car occupied by other people.
In a release on Tuesday afternoon, OHS said they were offering a $500 reward for tips that lead to a conviction and the puppy’s safe return.
By Tuesday evening just before 9 p.m., OHS announced the puppy had been returned.
“We are so grateful to Portland Police Bureau for their help in getting her back to us. We also appreciate all the tips we received from the public,” an OHS spokesperson said.
It’s unclear if Portland police have charged anyone with the puppy’s theft.
