PORTLAND, Ore. (NewsNation) — Oregon police said they are searching for a man after he was identified as the attacker in a graphic attack caught on video that left a man beaten unconscious after he was kicked in the head near the protests in downtown Portland Sunday.

Marquise Love, 25, is wanted for kicking the man in the head and knocking him unconscious after he crashed his pickup truck into a light pole. Officers found the driver lying in the street unconscious and bleeding, but not from the crash.

Police said they’re aware civilians are trying to contact Love after some of his personal information was posted online. They urged the public not to do this and said that not all information posted might not be accurate.

Police said protesters were chasing the truck before the crash and they assaulted the driver afterward. When officers arrived at the scene, officers said the crowd was “hostile.”

The pickup truck was found on the sidewalk near Sunday’s night protests in downtown Portland.

Authorities are looking into what led to the attack. Multiple videos show the driver was parked nearby the protests earlier in the evening. Sunday night, witnesses told NewsNation affiliate KOIN the driver of the truck was attempting to run protesters over.

KOIN reported the driver of the pickup truck’s name is Adam Haner. He is recovering at home from non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police said they are also looking for a transgender woman who had items stolen in the area where the incident began.

On Tuesday, US Attorney Billy Williams said in a statement he was “sickened” by the videos posted online.

“While the circumstances leading up to this brutal assault are still under state and federal review, I must condemn, in the strongest possible terms, this depraved violence,” he said. “We must all continue to work together to achieve peace in the streets of Portland. If we are not successful, I fear one day soon we will wake up to news that a Portlander has been killed. We cannot let this happen.”

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Portland Police Bureau Detective Brent Christensen at 503-823-2087.

NewsNation affiliate KOIN contributed to this report.
