CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — With fall underway in the United States, some areas are well past their peak leaf season this week while others are seeing minimal change in the foliage.

Parts of the Northeast are past their peak season for fall foliage, while large swathes of the Southeast are seeing little change — with the exception of parts of Virginia and West Virginia.

The Southeast all the way into the Southwest, as well as the southern portion of the west coast, still remains at minimal change, while parts of the west from Albuquerque up to Montana are already past their peak. Much of Washington state ranges from partial to peak season.

The northern parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan have likely seen their peak. Chicago and the rest of the Midwest are mostly seeing the beginning of their leaf season.
