MAP: Nearly 3.3 million acres burned in US wildfires this year, evacuations in 5 states

LOS ANGELES (NewsNation) — Nearly 100 large fires have burned 1.6 million acres in 13 states, according to recent data from the National Interagency Fire Center.

Evacuation orders are in effect for residents near 20 large fires in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Utah, as of Sunday evening. More than 26,000 firefighters and support personnel are assigned to wildfires across the country.

So far, more than 38,000 fires have burned nearly 3.3 million acres this year, the agency reported.

The number of fires and acres burned is currently below the 10-year average at this time, according to the agency.
