LOS ANGELES (NewsNation Now) — Amid record-breaking heat, 72 new fires were reported Sunday, including seven new large fires. Currently, 80 large fires have burned 2.2 million acres in several states, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

The number of fires and acres burned is currently below the 10-year average at this time, according to the agency.
