Kentucky judge shooting: A local judge in a small eastern Kentucky town was shot and killed in his chambers Thursday, and the local sheriff is under arrest. District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds inside the Whitesburg courthouse, according to the Kentucky State Police. Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. “Mickey” Stines, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder. The latest >

Titan: The Coast Guard’s investigative hearing into the 2023 Titan submersible implosion is set to resume Friday. The scientific director for OceanGate testified Thursday that the sub had malfunctioned just prior to the deadly dive. Catch up on the hearings >
Submersible: The Titan made its last dive in June 2023. The submersible, en route to see the Titanic wreckage, lost contact with its support vessel an hour and 45 minutes into the dive, launching a four-day search. Officials concluded the submersible imploded in the North Atlantic after evidence of an implosion was found on the ocean floor.
