Arrest near Trump rally: Vem Miller, the Las Vegas man arrested Saturday for allegedly possessing multiple guns and fake press passes outside of a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump, told “Dan Abrams Live” he had no such things on him. Miller said he was stopped and arrested because gun laws vary from Nevada to California. While there are legal differences, NewsNation contributor Jesse Weber pointed out that whether the guns were loaded or not, bringing a weapon to a former president’s rally after two previous attempts on his life would be reasonable cause for law enforcement concern. Lawsuit: Miller has promised a lawsuit against those who arrested him. “The sheriff is going to be investigated, is going to lose his position,” he said. “The deputy sheriff that was part of this is going to be investigated, is going to lose his position. There’s going to be a massive lawsuit.” Watch the interview >
Sheriff: Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco also joined “Dan Abrams Live” on Tuesday, saying his agency did all it needed to do to prevent any violence at the former president’s rally. On Sunday, Bianco told a room full of reporters: “If you are asking me right now, I probably did have deputies that stopped the third assassination attempt.” Federal agencies haven’t announced any movements to classify Miller’s arrest as a third assassination attempt. Trump was not at the rally at the time of the arrest. Read more >

Hurricane recovery: Federal disaster workers paused and then adjusted some of their hurricane recovery efforts in North Carolina after receiving threats they could be targeted by a militia, officials said. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call about a man with a gun who made a comment “about possibly harming” Federal Emergency Management Agency employees working in the North Carolina mountains. After getting a description of the suspect vehicle and license plate, authorities arrested William Jacob Parsons — who was armed with a handgun and a rifle. He was charged with “going armed to the terror of the public.” The latest >
Changes: FEMA changed operations after the threats “out of an abundance of caution.” The agency is emphasizing that disaster recovery centers remain open and that they are continuing to “help the people of North Carolina with their recovery.” This comes as FEMA has battled disinformation about its Helene response.
