Breaking: Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley plans to end her campaign, sources familiar with the decision confirmed to NewsNation. Haley’s decision will clear the way for former President Donald Trump to secure the Republican nomination later this year. The news comes after Haley won her first state Tuesday in Vermont, following her victory in D.C.’s GOP primary Sunday. A Republican candidate needs at least 1,215 delegates to win the party’s nomination. After Super Tuesday contests, Trump secured 1,015 delegates and Haley had 88 delegates, according to Decision Desk HQ. Front-runners win big: President Joe Biden and Trump dominated their respective party’s primaries with relatively predictable results in more than a dozen states on Super Tuesday. Biden and Trump each won California, Texas, Alabama, Colorado, Maine, Oklahoma, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Minnesota and Massachusetts. Biden also won the Democratic primaries in Utah, Vermont and Iowa. Biden lost to a long-shot challenger in the U.S. territory American Samoa. Trump lost to Haley in Vermont. What to know >
Warning signs: While the 2024 presidential race appears to be headed for a Biden-Trump rematch in November, Super Tuesday showed the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses. Support previously shown for Haley is a possible indication that part of the GOP isn’t as enthusiastic about Trump as expected. Biden faced a high number of Democrats voting “uncommitted” in Minnesota in protest of the president’s handling of the war in Gaza. Full breakdown >
Open seat: While most of the Super Tuesday spotlight was shining on the presidential race, candidates in California vied for the seat vacated by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein. In the competitive California Senate race, Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff and Republican candidate Steve Garvey will advance to the general election. The latest >

Trouble for TikTok: A new bill unveiled by House lawmakers Tuesday aims to ban TikTok unless the platform breaks off from its Chinese-based parent company. The “Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” defines ByteDance and TikTok as a foreign adversary controlled application. Under the legislation, ByteDance would be given more than five months after the law takes effect to divest TikTok.
