(NewsNation) — The feathers were flying Tuesday night between the queen of the catwalk, Naomi Campbell, and the empress of ‘Vogue,’ Anna Wintour.
Wintour was set to introduce Campbell to the audience at Harlem’s Fashion Row Fashion Show & Style Awards. But apparently, the bobbed editrix preferred to catch some tennis at the U. S. Open. However, instead of bowing out graciously or telling the truth, Wintour threw Campbell under the proverbial bus, telling the crowd, “I am a very punctual person, and I have the honor of presenting tonight to someone who is often late.”
While it is true that Campbell is notoriously late, she was actually on time that evening — just slated to appear later in the program.
Naomi Campbell: ‘It wasn’t my choice’
When Campbell was finally announced, she was presented by Harper’s Bazaar editor Samira Nasr … and Campbell took the moment to dig at Wintour, saying, “I want to say this. Everything is meant to work out the way it’s going to work out. … It wasn’t my choice to have the other lady [Wintour]. I’d much rather have this (Nasr).”
Ouch.
