TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Miami woman and her lost dog were reunited over the weekend after spending ten years apart.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay said the 14-year-old Cockapoo showed up to the shelter as a stray.
“We were hoping for a happy ending and for her to be reunited with her owners but we did not foresee the joy that her story brought,” HSTB posted on Facebook.
The crew at HSTB said the dog’s microchip led them to Luisa, who was in disbelief because her dog, Cleo, had run away 10 years ago.
“They never lost hope and continued to update her microchip in the small hope that they would be reunited, even after they moved to Miami,” HTSB said.
On Saturday, Luisa and her family drove to Tampa to reclaim Cleo.
“We couldn’t be happier for them,” HSTB said. “This shows the power and importance of the microchip and never losing hope.”
